The vocal, as always, is truly epic. This man was born to sing, and no matter what genre you put him next to, he sounds the utmost professional and wondrous ... with this being absolutely no exception. There are likenesses to so many current bands that we wouldn't be able to list them ... but the simplicity and charm of Paolo remains from his older stuff, meaning that the names Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, HAIM, and Hanson don't really get to the tips of your mind straight away. The addition of a choir is, whilst most certainly on trend at the moment, very fitting of his grand re-opening, and adds plenty to the overall experience of the listener. Our main concern, however, is the lack of direction that this one leads into ... meaning that we're somewhat unsure where his next few tracks will end up.
You see, the issue is, once the song is over, you'll quite simply HAVE to replay it. Not necessarily out of a sheer love for the track (although it is bloody good), but more simply because the structure does leave a little to be desired. We've become unsure whether or not this could have had a little more in the way of where it is going, in order for you to truly take in and understand where in which it is that Paolo was looking to take us. We don't know ... the fact is, all of the bits and pieces throughout make a good single ... we're unsure on the next lot, but find ourselves eager to find out and, come April 14th, we'll be on the list of buyers getting this most definitely into the top #10.
