Governor Punjab Latif Khosa to be removed from office
The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has reportedly decided to replace Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa with Makhdum Ahmed Mehmood, a Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) MPA. .
The decision of Khosa’s removal, which is the part of party’s pre-poll strategy, came after the meeting between Makhdum Ahmed Mehmood and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his son Ali Musa Gilani were also present in the meeting.
Mehmood, a member of the Punjab Assembly from PP-292, Rahim Yar Khan is the president of PML-F Punjab chapter.
According to sources, Mehmood will take his oath on Saturday.
Khosa, one of Bhutto’s top aides, was appointed as the Governor of Punjab by the President Asif Zardari after the assassination of late-governor Salman Taseer on 11 January 2011.
