Cat Playing Peek-A-Boo in Corfu, Greece
As a travel photographer, looking for unique shot opportunities can be quite a challenge. Finding them can also become lots of fun. While winding through the buildings in the oldest area of Corfu, I caught this cat on a rooftop, peeking around a corner. He seemed to be in a playful mood, so I stopped in my tracks and played right back.
Playing peek-a-boo with this cat was a delightful distraction. It was not only fun, but keeping my camera ready and taking the time to wait for the perfect opportunity rewarded me with this fabulous image. Plus, I got a great memento of an otherwise forgotten moment in Corfu.
Constantly focusing on stationary buildings, flowers and trees can make you miss much of the everyday life in a village. Animals, passersby, shopkeepers, street vendors, all can be worthy of an image or two. And many of the images you don’t think are worth keeping can be enhanced with some creative cropping. I did that with this picture; the original is in portrait format.
It is always good to keep your eyes ready to detect motion when walking around because great photographic opportunities abound. The human eye is attracted to movement and this little guy caught mine. Train your eye to catch motion and always keep your camera ready. If you are always prepared to shoot you’ll find yourself rewarded with some memorable, once-in-a-lifetime images.
