Post Baby Confidence and Jeans

By Verybusymama @verybusymama
Little L is TWO months now and despite some rough patches there I believe I am beating the nasty baby blues and seeing brighter days.
No more crying and I feel much, MUCH better. I've also been able to sleep for four straight hours at night which in mamá terms is amazing!
That alone helps with my sanity — it's crazy what lack of sleep can do to a person.
On the other hand, I'm slowly getting my confidence back and by that I mean my body confidence and what I can and can't wear. I started Medifast again last week and I've already lost 6 lbs — which feels great! I still have a ways to go to get to me, but I'm keeping positive along the way.
This weekend I went to a friends Stella & Dot trunk show and I was dying to wear my cobalt jeans — so I did!

I styled them with a striped top, a blazer (of course!) blue flats and the green Stella & Dot Jolie necklace that my friend and stylist Kristin gave me for my baby shower.
And because I didn't have to take a diaper bag, I wore my neon and black Leather Satchel sent to me by my UK blogger friends Transatlantic Blonde and Geek is the New Chic last year.

BUT... (and it's a big but) there was a catch with the jeans. See, these cobalt beauties are my maternity jeans.
I know, I know. No woman who has had a baby wants to wear her maternity jeans, but I found a way to wear them and not feel (or look) like I'm still pregnant.

I took the tummy panel and folded it down turning it into a slimming piece. However, they wouldn't stay put, so I took it a step further and sewed the sides (very important!) to make it tighter and turned my jeans into jeggings.
The white panel just looks like an undershirt, so it's not a big deal if you can see that part and it smooths out your tummy. I did the same with my pink jeans and will wear these until I can fit into my regular jeans — for now, these do the trick!

Nothing is new. Everything came straight out of the closet. The blazer is Gap circa 2004, striped shirt is Uniqlo, flats are Target from last year and the jeans...well, we've discussed that!
Most of you know I don't cook or craft, so I'm pretty darn proud of my reverse maternity jeans project. Having confidence drives you to be better and accomplish your goals and this weekend I felt like I was on fire!
All thanks to a pair of former maternity jeans turned shapewear/jeggings.
Would you/have you wear your maternity jeans post-baby?
¡besos!
