The Police reported to Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya that there is a racket selling concrete stones wrapped in handkerchiefs, while identifying them as gems to customers who come to Pettah from various places to buy goods during the festive season. The Police said that they have already received several complaints regarding such incidents.
The Police informed the Court that they have started investigations to arrest the suspects, as people coming from different places have been caught in this racket.
