Weerawila Police on Thursday arrested eight Army personnel who were involved in a clash with Police officers deployed for duty at a carnival held at the Weerawila National Livestock Development Board grounds.
A senior Police officer said that when the Police officials went to settle a dispute between two groups at the festival grounds, a group of Army personnel in civilian attire had an argument with the Police. He said that eight Army personnel were arrested for their unruly behavior. Police said that one of the Army personnel arrested was a Captain while the others were sodliers.They were later released on Police bail.
