Podi idly(Shallow Fried)
By Harini
How many fans out there for idly make over recipes.I love to convert the left over idlys into upma or usili or some times I even deep fry them for a quick snack. But this podi idly is something I tried recently and really liked the way it turned out.It is very healthy,we all know how healthy idly is and in this particular recipe we are shallow frying the idlys so usage of oil is also minimum. This is a very tasty snack and guilt free too,you can go totally creative with flavors here.I have used milgai podi and paruppu podi. You can use Karivepillai podi for green colored idlys or just temper the idlys with turmeric powder and add lemon juice for yellow colored idlys. You can even coat the idlys with tomato pickle for red colored idlys, even tomato ketch up will work.I arranged them in skewers just for fun

You can top the idlis with greated coconut for extra zing.
Notes:
1.To cut idly easily freeze the idly for 10 minutes before cutting
2.If needed you can deep fry the idlis too
3.If possible you can make mini idlis and use for this. They are just cute.
