PoArtMo 2020: The Story Behind My Droplets Photo

Posted on the 01 June 2020 by Cendrinemedia @cendrinemedia

When I released my second photography book, Life's Little Things - Les petites choses de la vie, many people asked me how I had taken the photo on the cover. Actually, they continue asking me. So, I would like to share the story with you today.

Back in 2015, I started taking an interest in droplet photography and spent countless hours practicing in my backyard. At the time, my gear was the Canon REBEL T3i and its kit lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6).

I took the photo right after an episode of heavy rain. The ground was muddy and the wind blowing. My tripod being flimsy and too tall for the job, I had to hand-hold the camera...

Needless to say that it was an exercise in patience! But the result still amazes me.

Here is the original photo:

I still cannot decide if I prefer the color or B&W version of my photo. What do you think?

PoArtMo (Positive Art Month) is in session!

PoArtMo stands for two things: Positive Art Month and Positive Art Moves.

  • Positive Art Month is a month dedicated to positive art. Every June, artists around the world are invited to create and celebrate positive art for 30 days. It can be absolutely anything art related: photography, poetry, short stories, sculptures, drawings, theatre, etc.
  • Positive Art Moves celebrates positivity and inspiration in art all year long.

PoArtMo is open to hobbyist, amateur and professional artists. Artists interested in participating in PoArtMo can do so by heading to this link to find out more, along with submissions opportunities for a PoArtMo Contest and a PoArtMo Anthology too:
