An Anglo-Columbian Wedding in a Dorset Village
Stepping in to a new venue as Plush Manor Wedding Photographers, to capture Austin & Sonia’s wedding, we were surrounded by Spanish voices.
A frenzy of activity greeted us. Children having been organised to dress the gardens with large flower blooms. Adults were inspecting the nearby Foley. P.A. systems were being tested and the wedding ceremony area being styled.
All spare hands were being utilised. Upon entering the Manor house kitchen, we found cast away flower stalks and excess blooms, along with a mini production line. Table setting name tags and wedding favours being created with personalised miniature Columbian sombreros.
It was still early in the day, and we were feeling a great vibe. Organic and family led, it was guaranteed to be a great experience at Plush Manor.
Hours earlier I had awoken to the sound of driving rain upon my bedroom windows. It was relentless, leaving me slightly deflated. That’s me and my creative selfishness!!! Thinking what I would want within photographic opportunities. Of course, we all want the couple to enjoy good weather, even more so when expecting an outdoor ceremony!

There were occasional breaks in the rain. The first opportunity giving us the chance of important drone aerial filming. With that done, it left us to concentrate on the bridal preparations. I covered Sonia getting ready while George covered Austin, the Groomsmen and their brief trip to the village pub.
The ceremony at the Foley was to be at 2.30. Messages and weather updates were being conveyed upstairs to the bridal suite. The final decision on whether it was going ahead outside would be taken at 2.15. The downpours were then at full power.
2.30 came….. and went!
A delay of 15 minutes was kindly accommodated by the registrars – 2.45 was going to be show time. If it was still raining, we would all be inside. That would have been a squeeze for the 60 odd guests.
The time ticked by. The rain was changing between heavy and not so heavy. Then a break! The signal was given. We were heading outside!
All the guests streamed out of the house and over to the foley. Rain still in the air. Fingers crossed. It was show time.
The clouds finally parted.
Sonia & Austin had the ceremony they had envisaged. At the Foley, with their guests surrounding the enclosed water garden. Sonia wearing a stunning gown and Austin wearing his family tartan kilt.
So many aspects of their day were a joy to document. Not too heavy on the portraits, keeping it flowing and documentary led.
The wedding breakfast was held within the spectacular onsite deconsecrated chapel. It’s stained glass windows, stage and pulpit within which to deliver the wedding breakfast speeches.
Plush Manor Wedding Photographers working within the perfect setting
The uniqueness of Plush Manor’s layout works so well when hosting wedding celebrations. Exclusive hire of the main house and private grounds, it has everything you could need.
This small selection of images being a brief taste of the wedding photography from their day.
There is plenty of work ahead in organising and editing the video footage and audio recordings, We’re both excited and looking forward to creating their Fusion Wedding Film. Such an abundance of rich material to work with. The stories shared at the wedding breakfast, being packed with quick wit along with glowing tributes.
Congratulations Austin & Sonia – it was a real pleasure to capture your day as Plush Manor Wedding Photographers!
