A Twin Comanche on final approach to Camarillo Airport. The Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche was designed as a twin-engined variant of the Piper PA-24 Comanche. This light twin competed with the more-powerful Cessna 310 and Beech Baron aircraft. First flown in 1962, more than 2,000 were produced before production ceased when the factory was flooded in 1972. It is the only American aircraft to have raced twice around the world, in the 1992 and 1994 French Arc en Ciel air races.
