If you’re on the road to a healthier lifestyle or just enjoy trying new recipes here are two tasty recipes. This pineapple pizza will satisfy your cravings for a sweet dessert. And for my kool-aid lovers, here is a healthier alternative with just as much flavor.
PINEAPPLE PIZZA
This dessert requires only four simple ingredients: pizza crust (check out my previous post for recipe), honey, cinnamon and pineapple chunks. This dessert is very easy to make. All you have to do is combine the honey with cinnamon (the amount is your preference but remember cinnamon is a spice so don’t over do it), put the honey mixture in a pot and add the pineapple chunks and cook until slightly caramelized. Top your pizza crust with the fruit and honey mixture and voila! This recipe would probably be good with apples as well for a healthier alternative to apple pie.
BISSAP
Bissap or “jus de bissap” is a tea or juice made from dried red hibiscus flowers. It is sometimes called the national drink of Senegal, but according to BissapBreeze.com, it is known by many different names around the world. It is usually sweetened with sugar and flavored with different fruit juices or extracts such as pineapple or lemon juice, ginger root or vanilla extract.
We opted to sweeten our bissap with honey and added mango. Steep the flowers as you would any other type of tea. Add honey while hot so it can dissolve easier. What my Aunt Joey did was blended the sweetened tea with mango chunks in her blender and I think strained it. Since I didn’t have a blender at my apartment, I juiced mango chunks in my juicer and added the pulp to my tea since they didn’t juice well. Put it in the fridge to cool. You’ll notice that once the tea is cooled, it is much sweeter than when it was hot. If it’s too sweet, simply add some cold water to cut it.
