(my submission: please shecht, skin, kasher, and cook it next time)
2. what is going on here? Why are there chickens in the house of Rav Moshe Shternbuch, Raavad of the Eida Hachareidis? They brought the chicken to Rav Shternbuch because of the latest kashrus debate raging in the Eida. This is some "new" breed of chicken never before found in Israel but now being imported form Europe. The debate is whether this breed is kosher or not - is it considered a regular chicken or because it is a different breed (Brakel) that was raised in an area with no Jews it has no accepted tradition of being kosher, and an important facet of kashrut of fowl is the tradition of it being kosher?
So far it seems Rav Nissim Karelitz says this chicken is kosher, as does some posek from Satmar, while rabbonim in the Eida are, at least for now, considering it non-kosher.
