The movies below are those which aired in cinemas in Indonesia, i do not list the movie that is not aired in Indonesia or the movie that i have not watched. So here checks the list below.
Joker (by Todd Phillips)
Joker is a psychological dark thriller movie that tells the story of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a failed comedian who turns into a murderous psychopath with nickname Joker due to his mental illness. Joker is made more realistic than any other superhero movies, we are made to understand about the cinematic experience of Arthur becoming Joker. It is a great production film with great cinematography, great storyline, and also great character development.
Joker is also a film that widening the horizon of superhero movies. Joker is not dominated by CGI effect, there is also not many explosions. Joker’s charms lie on its compact, deep, and suspense story. Joker might show ambiguity in morality, but dear snowflakes, still Joker is just a film made by and for pop-culture. It doesn’t have to mean anything.
The Irishman (by Martin Scorsese)
The Irishman follows the story of the titular man, Frank Sheeran (De Niro), a trucker turned a mafia hitman. The story is presented in a non-linear narrative. Sheeran’s whole story is not only personal, but at the same time, reflects the gray areas in the political subtext of American history.
The Irishman is an epic crime movie with persuasive art of directing. Within the massive duration, the director distributes the powerful moments realistically. Every scene is well-made, from murder scene until a long discussion negotiation
Knives Out (by Rian Johnson)
Knives Out is a playful mystery movie, that revolves around the death of Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), a famous mystery writer. His sudden demise reunites his children, their spouses and the grandchildren.
Knives Out shows Rian’s geeky persona and stylish filmmaking style. The movie is stylized like classic mystery story that you might find in Agatha Christie’s novel. While set in the modern era, the movie often ventures with classic elements. The movie is also inserted with many social commentaries that still funny. Knives Out is a tragic comedy movie with exquisite and distinctive wordplay.
