Brothers, Brian and Conor Buckley, have run Pica Bar for the past 6 years, creating a casual yet vibrant venue, attracting all walks of life. We were seated indoors where the ambience is cosy yet intimate, away from the chill of the crisp autumn air. Here you can choose from high or low tables, lounge on a couch or make the most of the bench style seating for larger groups in the rear courtyard where the liquor license extends.
My personal favourite was the chicken burger, a crispy coating of succulent chicken breast nestled between brioche buns. If share plates are more your fancy, the generous serving of pate was mild and creamy and easily devoured along with the assortment of breads on offer. The salads were fresh and full of crunch. Take your pick from pumpkin with feta, walnuts, onion and balsamic vinaigrette or try the pear and parmesan salad, pine nuts with an apple cider vinaigrette. Both really enjoyable and a nice little side dish, or make it your main by adding chicken. An all day breakfast menu also features because hey, who doesn't love brinner when the mood strikes.
Being a bar, Pica Bar has a wide variety of craft beers and wine available but it was the cocktails that caught my eye. I highly recommend the Elderflower Fizz. A delightful gin cocktail with a delicious hint of elderflower and citrus, this was a complete winner.
Pica Bar is involved in the City of Perth's, Let's Thursday Like It's Friday campaign running until the 31 st May. With 52 venues involved over the inner city, special offers are available to encourage people to head out and about midweek. Pica Bar has jumped on board and is offering any burger, along with a glass of wine or pint for just $20!
Northbridge is definitely on the way up and with another foodie cravings favourite in the area, Sauma, it's worth checking out.
