Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) will be on the cover of August’s Redbook Magazine. The issue doesn’t hit newsstands until July 10 but photos and selected excerpts from the actress and soon-to-be new mother’s interview are now up on the magazine’s website.
Regarding impending motherhood, the actress says that she’s torn between wanting to stay home and give into nesting instincts and wanting to leave the house and go travel for five months. Anna is of course married to fellow actor and True Blood cast mate Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton). While the couple is nothing but professional on set, when the show called for Anna’s character Sookie to have sex scenes with Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), some wondered if it had an impact on their relationship. But Paquin says they’re both gentlemen about this kind of thing:
“We feel completely comfortable together. Steve [Moyer] and Alex are buddies. Its nothing like, ‘Oh, hi, nice to meet you. Now let’s take off our clothes and go into the fog.’ Everyone is very respectful of each other’s boundaries…They’re all very gentlemanly about it.”
And Anna admits that she is actually her biggest critic when it comes to her own image and how she is perceived. Once she cut herself some slack and tried to be who she was instead of an idealized version of what she thought she should be, it was a little easier.
One of the most interesting things Redbook previewed about Anna’s interview was how she got the job of Sookie Stackhouse:
“I’m a big believer in ‘fake it to make it.’ I went out and bought some incredibly short shorts and a push-up bra that I knew were going to be a part of my new life. It’s not that I’m a prude, but I’m not a massive exhibitionist, either.”
The full interview will be out July 10.
