Photoessay: Ma Pondy Cherie, Pondicherry: Bonhomie Vibes and Colour Inspirations

By Rashmi Gopal Rao

As mentioned in one of my earlier posts, Pondicherry aka Pondy is a city that never disappoints me.  I manage to discover something new each time I visit this unique place.  Right from the southern quarter to the police museum, there is plenty to see and do while touring Pondy on an offbeat path.  One such place I came across during my visit last November was a unique boutique called Ma Pondy Cherie on Vysial street.

Bold colours and furniture with colonial vibes

Replete with boho and rustic chic vibes, the decor of this store stole my heart.   Right from the bold color palette to the eclectic artefacts, the ambience is quirky yet cozy.  Here are some captures that serve as great decor inspirations.

An interesting mix of furniture pieces coupled with vibrant wall decor lends this space a unique character.

Built in shelves have always been my favorite as it lends an old world charm to the space and is also a great space saver.

Have you been shying away from using bright red in your space? Well, think again for this looks gorgeous.

Abundance of vibrant red

While you don’t miss the old world windows in the picture above, the picture below shows how you can get your “mix and match” in furniture just right!

The store is also a great place to pick up anything whether exclusive souvenirs, books, scarves, t-shirts, collectibles, artefacts and even groceries.

Loved their stoles and other fabric!
