Petite Joys

By Winyeemichelle
After a weekend - ok, a week, who am I kidding? - of indulgence, I thought I’d kick-start this week with a simple list of little joys. It’s odd but I’ve been feeling disheartened in almost everything I attempt lately. Sometimes I sit and wonder whether I should be freelancing and carving my own path (of course I am now back on the Self-Employment Is Great train!) or whether I should cut my losses and go back to a 9-5. Should I have my own home already or should I be doing [insert something popular here]? It’s when I’m far less busy that I feel the most vulnerable at the moment, when quietness catches up to me and I’m left to myself for just a touch too long.
But then I remember that life isn’t a race. What’s right for them might not be right for me. And with 5 years of the 9-5 life under my belt, I know that I can do that but that I’m happier and more content bossing it myself. Success isn’t measured in numbers, figures or sums of money, at least not to me.
Anyway, enough of that short interlude, let’s crack on…
一. Bluebells! I never appreciated natural beauty until I moved home to England from my stint in Hong Kong. I’m revelling in admiring the soft lilac-ness of bluebells lining the woods in my hometown.
二. Tuesday date nights! Always softening the blow of traumatic Mondays.
三. My workout routines now include yoga! Three times a week, I like to dip in to my Asana Rebel app and get at least 30 minutes of yoga in. The app is free with paid workout programmes and is full of yoga practices that get the blood pumping and mind relaxed. All you need is your phone and a yoga mat! The app comes highly recommended from me.
四. Little Milo is finally getting used to his short haircut after the groomers absolutely butchered his look. He’s particularly been loving curling up and stretching out on the armchair we’ve got in the bay window. Always seeking that elusive sunspot…
五. Homemade kimbap for lunch last Friday!
六. I finally got round to joining Depop after decluttering my wardrobe over the Easter weekend. Two full bags for the charity shop and a box full of barely-worn and barely-used goodies for Depop later and I’m feelin’ productive! Head over to my page for clothing in sizes 8-12 (high street and designer), phone cases, small leather goods and more.
七. The crunch underfoot of spring frost on early morning dog walks.
八. Seeing the look of sheer joy on Milo’s face every morning when we let him outdoors.
九. Louise and I started watching Prison Break and we can’t believe we didn’t watch it the first time round! We’ve just started season two and although it’s supposed to get terrible soon (thanks, hoards of Internet strangers ;)), we’re so taken by it all. Season one was so gripping and clever if not just a smidgen farfetched.
十. Easter treats from Daisybf!
