Personal Training Online Course with ICS // The Journey Begins

By Annamoss84 @missanniebean

I totally took education for granted when I was younger, and without sounding too old, I really regret not taking advantage of more learning opportunities. I have now got to a point where I miss learning, so with that in mind I have begun a journey with ICS Learn to do my personal training qualification.

I'm sure it isn't going to be an easy ride, but I'm without a shadow of a doubt ready for the challenge.
Let's catch up on why I've decided to go into personal training. Back in 2003 I did an Exercise To Music (fitness instructor) course. I was studying at university at the time, but due to health I only managed to do my practical and never got round to doing my theory. YMCA changed all their course which unfortunately made what I had done invalid, frustrating is an understatement! Move us on to 2013 and I did my indoor cycling course in a spontaneous burst, but it just hasn't seemed enough... I wanted more.

I love fitness and I'd go as far as saying the majority of my days and thoughts circulate around training. I live to swim, cycle and run mainly - hence my passion for triathlon. I do a mixture of other things so I don't just go in and use a gym, (I'm no one trick pony!) I like to keep my fitness on its toes. Getting back to the reason I wanted to be a PT, it all came into play after some of my blogger friends and readers, would ask me fitness and training advice. It was only then I realised my next leap was for me to become a PT.
I was potentially meant to have done this way back in 2003, but the full time course put me off due to work commitments. It somehow seemed realistic and doable for me to register when ICS Learn launched their online version. So here I'm in 2016 and I'm finally doing it. Better late than never hey?

As mentioned I am doing the course with the distance learning company, ICS Learn (and YMCA the governing body behind it), and yes it's all online! How is a PT course online you ask? Well, most of it is! You'll need to do some bits in a gym to demonstrate you in action, but the majority is online at your own pace. They have forums, chats, tutors, course material and videos all at the click of a mouse button.
I've only recently registered and since signing up, I have just been getting my head around it all and finding my feet. Scheduling my days of study I must admit is the hardest part being a freelancer! I never know when I'm going to be free, so I have said to myself that on a Sunday I will plan my study hours for the week ahead.

I do believe ICS Learn are the first to offer a purely online PT course, so with that in mind I've decided to blog and vlog my journey - in case any of you are interested in doing the same, or interested in other ICS online distance courses.
Stick with me... it's going to be quite an energetic journey! Any questions just leave me a comment below.
