Personal Style: Tough Tartan

By Fashion Rhetoric
I finally got round to getting out and about with the boyfriend this past weekend in order to do some personal style photo's. It's been ages since I've done one of these type of posts; as it's not always easy convincing Eddie, to play photographer for the day. Although now he has a bit more of an idea, what type of images I want to create, he kind of got into things. In fact, he seemed rather disappointed when the battery on my camera died a couple of hours in.
From now on, I have decided that on personal style posts, that I'm not going to waffle on much about the outfit other than to state where the items are from and if there is a specific story about the outfit (however most of the time, that won't apply). The idea behind this is that the images will do all the talking, and I won't have to!!
Anyway, today's style is Tough Tartan; combining three autumn/winter trends of studs, leather and tartan.

Most of the items featured in this post are things that were already in my wardrobe and obviously are not available in the shops any more. So I have listed my items and then linked them to alternative items in the same style that are currently available online.
Leather Biker Jacket : Topshop  // Roll Neck Short Sleeve Tunic: River Island // Tartan Shorts: Primark  // Black Tights: Accessorise // Studded Military Boots: Cube Shoes // Black Train Driver Hat: Hand M // Red Geometric Prism Pendant: (Unknown) // Silver Square Bangle: Manchester Christmas Market // Red Bangle:  (Unknown) // Black Glitter Ball Dome Ring: Dorothy Perkins

I've had a thing for tartan for years but it is a pattern that I've never really adopted. I do own a tartan train driver style hat and a belt but that has been my limit. Oh yeah I did have a gorgeous black kilt like skirt by Killah too, that had tartan inserts in the pleats of the skirt- but I never wore it despite loving it. (I still own it actually; can't bring myself to part with it even though I have no hope in hell of getting in it ever again. Maybe I can get some one to make me one like it...... hmmmm?).
What are your thoughts on tartan?? Do you love it?? Loath it?? And will you be wearing it this season??
