In September we had our first visit to Perrygrove Railway in the Forest of Dean. It was a brilliant day out and we all loved riding the railway as many times as we liked! That's certainly not been on option at any of the other train rides we've been to.

Perrygrove Railway has play parks at both ends of the railway, and walks between other stops. There is a cafe, which had nice coffees - we got them for the drive home! Both girls loved it, and ask to go back. At that stage, H was nearly 5, and B just gone 2.

H enjoyed the treasure hunt (extra charge), which culminated in a finding the clues to identify a box where your treasure was located. It was brilliant, and so unique. The girls loved the chocolate money prize.

The play park at the end of the train line:

It is lovely that it is covered, perfect for summer shade, and for rain every other time of the year.

There were also lots of picnic benches here too.

The trains actually quite short, 10-15 minutes but has lovely views.

The girls absolutely loved the train and we were on a few times...

And, as you'll see in the video a child gets chosen to wave the flag!

Perrygrove Railway review verdict

We had a brilliant day out and would thoroughly recommend it.

It also wasn't too expensive which was really nice too, and as it as small, everyone made to feel welcome.
