Penelope Cruz might reunite with husband Javier Bardem for ‘The Counselor’. The film is a drug drama from author Cormac McCarthy and to be directed by Ridley Scott. With ‘The Counselor’, Cormac McCarthy will make his debut as a screenwriter. Nick Wechsler and Paula Mae Schwartz will be producing.

The cast includes Javier Bardem, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt. In the film Penelope Cruz would play Fassbender’s love interest. Cruz’s role was actually written by keeping Angelina Jolie in mind, but she couldn’t do it as she is busy shooting Maleficent with Disney.

The story centers on an attorney (played by Fassbender), a good man in need of money, who decides to dabble in the cocaine trade. He teams up with a rich acquaintance (played by Bardem) for a new business that also brings in a shady type (played by Pitt). Things don’t go as planned, in what is described as a dialog – heavy, violent and racy script.
