Adam writes… Tested the iSteps GPS Pedometer app on the Kensington walk yesterday. It’s a really simple app with a wealth of underlying capabilities, which means it is as simple or as easy as you want it to be.
It also offers some great advice on battery life – these apps will drain your phone in no time at all if you keep ‘em running constantly. I’m sorry to say that I learned this to my cost testing other walking apps that didn’t have such an upfront message about battery power – which is, of course, a big “Doh!” on my behalf. But it’s reassuringly honest of the iSteps folk to point it out so prominently!
In lieu of this, it gives you the ability to keep the app running all the time, or to simply set it on a walk-by-walk basis. As a basic step tracker it’s the best one I’ve used so far. Of the underlying features, the route mapping facility will also come in pretty handy in my line of work.
The extra functionality is available as an in-app purchase, and the cost of the basic app is £1.49 from the iTunes Store HERE.
P.S. Here’s my step count from the Kensington walk yesterday…
