Pearl and the Beard Release Rumbling New Track ‘Devil’s Head Down’ [Premiere]

I first heard “Devil’s Head Down” a few years ago at a small Pearl and the Beard show — barely a stage, just the band pulling off their generally miraculous performance in the corner of an open space. Instantly, I was captivated by how something could sound so ominous and sexy simultaneously. The rumbling guitar riff and slinking, dark cello feel strangely predatory, and in a way they are — this song will track it’s way into your head, spinning again and again. Even the slightly upbeat pace of the song’s finale seems to be delivered with a sense of dangerous urgency. At just over two and a half minutes, “Devil’s Head Down” is a ride from beginning to end. Listen above, and check out the band’s full album, Beast, out July 21!
