Pea Soup And…

By Athomewithcat

“Soup puts the heart at ease, calms down the violence of hunger, eliminates the tension of the day, and awakens and refines the appetite.”
Auguste Escoffier

I love making soup.  I love making soup in bulk.  I love making soup in bulk and freezing portions of it for later.  I love opening the freezer to find ready to eat soups especially on the days I don’t feel like cooking.

After our walk yesterday by the river, I pulled out a soup I had in the freezer from last year’s leftover Easter ham.  I used the last bits of the ham and added it to the soup for additional flavor.

With a slice of homemade bread – it was pure comfort food.

And…

Rainy Monday morning here.  Doing a little house cleaning, washing bed linens along with the quilts we use to snuggle on the couch.  It is so nice to crawl into bed at night and get under clean smelling sheets and blankets.  Another simple comfort that takes very little effort to do and yet has a big impact.

I’m going to enjoy another cup of coffee before pulling my hair up, rolling up my sleeves and getting to work on the house.  It has been “maintained” during our illness and really requires a good once over.  It’s “high time” as one might say.
