Payphone by Maroon 5.

As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of Maroon 5 but I decided to write about them because they were played constantly during my trip in Ireland. It was always this song or One More Night on their crazy radio stations. I never paid attention to their music because I couldn’t relate to the lyrics…that’s always my selling point…can I really relate to this? Well, for the first time, I can actually connect to one of their songs.

Payphone was released as a single in April of 2012 from the band’s fourth album, Overexposed. The lyrics describe a failed relationship and wanting an opportunity to say everything he didn’t say before. Throughout the song, he reminisces over their happier days together but it’s evident the girl has moved on.

I know it’s hard to remember the people we used to be. It’s even harder to picture that you’re not here next to me. You say it’s too late to make it, but is it too late to try? And in our time that you wasted, all of our bridges burned down.

Above is the audio and album cover. This version does not feature Wiz Khalifa.
