Paula's Choice Now in the Philippines

By Dressmeupbuttercup @hazelsalcedo

Almost everyone wants to age gracefully, that’s a given. Five, ten, or twenty years from now all seems so distant yet fine lines and wrinkles can be seen even before you hit your prime years, heck even before your 30s! I have to admit that I now take my skin care routine at night more seriously, especially cos I’m not getting any younger. Lately I find myself more interested in skin care products instead of makeup. And it’s very timely that a new brand of skin care called Paula’s Choice recently reached the Philippines. I was invited to their launch at Mariott Hotel a few weeks ago and let me share with you my new discoveries!

First of all, meet Paula Begoun, the founder of Paula’s Choice. She doesn’t look her age at all (I think she’s in her 60’s already). She’s coined as the Cosmetics Cop in the beauty industry and she has authored several books, most notably the one titled Don’t Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me. Her goal to help find the absolute best products for the skin led her to the creation of Paula’s Choice which has been around since 1995 and is currently available in 53 countries. Paula’s Choice products successfully treat everything from acne to wrinkles, rosacea, sensitive skin, sun damage, dry skin, oily skin, and blackheads.

Days before the launch I actually Googled about Paula’s Choice cos I honestly had zero knowledge about it prior to the launch. I found so many happy users of this brand! Most of their products actually rate high on product review sites such as Total Beauty.

I learned from Paula’s Choice Managing Director Ms. Naree Mongkol that day that one should exfoliate DAILY. Yes daily. This is to avoid wrinkles and fine lines. I was surprised because I thought exfoliating should be done only once a week! Also, she put a lot of emphasis on using sunscreen to protect the face. Apparently UVA will kill your cells overtime so SPF of at least 30 should be applied daily. I know I can never commit to using sunscreen lotion alone (I find them sticky) so what I do is I look for foundation, concealer, BB cream, etc with SPF components.

Ms Naree also demonstrated the instant effect of one of their bestsellers — Resist C15 Super Booster. We saw firsthand how the rotten slice of apple suddenly changed appearance upon application of the Resist C15 Super Booster. It became lighter and less discolored. Amazing! Just look at the photo above!

Next she showed us how the Shine Stopper works. Beauty blogger Julia got the back of her hands dropped with some oil. Then Ms Naree applied the Shine Booster on one hand, and viola! Shine no more! I seriously need that product in my life!!! #oilygirlproblems

Here are the other products shown to us during the launch. From L-R: Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA, Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid, Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel, and Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. Aside from skin care, Paula’s Choice actually also has a wide array of makeup. But the Philippines will only have a select skin care line for now. I will review soon the Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel which I got from the launch, so stay tuned. Been using it for the past weeks now and so far I’m loving it!

Paula’s Choice will soon be available at Lazada and Zalora. Visit their website and Facebook page for more information.
