Patsy’s Rats – ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Friend’ Stream

Posted on the 18 January 2016 by Spectralnights

Jangly guitars in the vein of The Smiths open the new single from Patsy’s Rats. A Portland duo signed to Super Fan 99 Records, there’s a touch of early Cribs in the guitar works before the song evolves into a song that wouldn’t be out of place alongside The Sundays. There are also more contemporary and lesser-known influences shining through; we could hear a touch of Life Without Buildings, for instance.

Huge fun with its talk of how ‘In my big black car, there’s space for you there’, there’s a massive-sounding shout-along of ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Friend’ that bolsters the endearing interplay between Patsy Gelb and Christian Blunda’s vocals. Tthe huge power-pop sound makes you want to be Patsy’s Rats’ new best friend.
