Patio Dreamin'

By _jessismore @_jessismore
One of the fun things about owning a home is getting to make it your own.
(slowly over time as dollar bills allow)
Don't like the paint color? Change it.
That counter top is eww? Get another one.
Nothing but grass in your back yard and nowhere to enjoy the 2 weeks of nice weather we get in Minnesota?
Install a patio!
Yes, my friends, this is our big project for "Spring."
Surprisingly, it has turned out to be kind of long and complicated-ish process.
Stone, blocks, or concrete?
Stained, stamped, and colored?
It has made our heads spin, and just like house-hunting, I am almost ready to be done with the process.
After some debate, we decided to do a poured concrete patio that is stamped.
Paver patios are nice, but they shift over time -- and take a lot of manual labor to install.
I consider myself a semi-DIY gal.
The back breaking stuff can be left to the professionals... or as my husband would call it "skilled versus unskilled labor." #nerdalert
Of course, I have taken to Pinterest and another envy-causing site, Houzz, for inspiration and ideas. This is our main goal for the size, shape and border.

We're hoping to dress it up with some dreamy furniture, a chimenea, built-in grill and tiki torches.
I've been pinning away -- there are just so many awesome ideas out there.

What are your patio must-haves? If you could plan a dream outdoor space, what would you include?
