Pastor John Gray and wife Aventer Gray were on the Breakfast Club, earlier this week, where they discussed leaving Lakewood Church, and moving to South Carolina to take over Redemption Church.
Pastor Gray shared with the radio show hosts that things were going good in Houston for the couple, but after 5 years he felt like God was moving them.
“It was time, we had been there five years, and five is the number of grace, we were in our grace period, and it was time to move on to something else.”
DJ Envy asked the couple why South Carolina, and Pastor Gray shared that he’s always had a heart for smaller towns, and that he and his wife grew up in small towns. He’s from Cincinatti, and Aventer is from Dothan, Alabama.
Then Pastor Gray elaborated,
“I was serving Pastor Joel and Victoria’s vision, we served that vision, and we thank God for that, but there comes a time that there’s a vision in you, and it just depends on the right place to launch it.”
“The problem is people that said they represent God, don’t have God’s heart”
In another part of the 40 minute interview, DJ Envy asked Pastor Gray what can he say to kids who have a hard time believing in God.
“The problem is people that said they represent God, don’t have God’s heart, so today we have a judgmental perspective, where everybody’s pointing the finger at people, and if you sin a different sin than me then you’re worse than me, and that’s just not the Biblical New Testament narrative.”
