Pasi parupu stands for split green gram in English.It is a very good source of nutrition for vegetarians.It contains good amount of protien and carbohydrates.It is easily digestible and also comes as highly rated toddler food.Here is a easy to make payasam/dessert with pasi parupu and rice.
Pasiparuppu payasam-Green gram dessert
Star ingredient-Pasiparrupu

Ingredients:
2 table spoons pasi parrupu (green gram)
2 teaspoon arisi
2 teaspoon grated coconut
4 cardamom
2 cloves
1 small cup grated jaggery
2 teaspoons ghee
250 ml milk
1 teaspoon finely chopped cashew nuts
Method:
1. Heat ghee in a skillet and fry cashew nuts.Set aside
2.In a same pan roast green gram and rice till fragrant.Once cooled grind along with coconut,clove and cardamom.It should be a fine paste.So grind adding enough water.
3.Add 1 1/2 cups of water to the grated jaggery and dissolve well.Now add the ground paste to this and cook on low flame.
4.Keep stiring and let it boil for 7-8 minutes.
5.Next add the milk and cook till one rolling boil.Remove from flame and garnish with cashew nuts.Serve.
1.Rice is added just to give some thickness.You can avoid it if you prefer thin payasam
2.Add any nuts of your choice for garnishing
3.You can add saffron if you prefer.
