Party Leaders Reach General Consensus on Draft 21A, to Meet Next Week

Party leaders who met at Prime Minister’s Office to discuss the draft 21st Amendment to the Constitution yesterday reached a general consensus for the swift enactment of the Amendment.

Following the discussions it was decided that due to the Tamil National Alliance being unable to attend yesterday’s meeting, they would hold a final meeting next Friday (3), with the TNA’s attendance, so as to finalise the draft.

The purpose of the meeting which was held under the aegis of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was to allow the Party Leaders present their observations regarding the draft Amendment, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office said

The Prime Minister also announced that during the week if any parties wished to seek further clarification they could do so from the Minister of Justice.
