Parque Da Cidade In Winter

By Gail Aguiar @ImageLegacy

Parque da Cidade (City Park) is Porto’s largest park; it is also the largest urban park in Portugal. Those 83 hectares are usually quite peaceful during the weekdays, even in the summer. Before lunchtime, the paths are frequented mostly by joggers and exercisers and the occasional dog on a leash. Depending on the time of year, there will be clusters of schoolchildren present, but there’s plenty of park to go around. Like all urban green spaces, Parque da Cidade tends to fill up on the weekends, but that doesn’t really apply in the winter and especially not on a mixed-weather winter day like today.

That rationale was how I persuaded the other human of Casa Aguiar to go to Parque da Cidade on a Saturday. We packed up the dog and a camera and had the rare occasion of the park mostly to ourselves, free to stalk ducks and geese and other local birds. Here’s a selection of pictures from our outing, featuring Ice the Dog.
