I love to be active and more importantly I love to have fun when doing something active. For me personally I always think you have to 'shake it up' to keep yourself interested in exercise. There is only so much pavement pounding you can do, and often fitness becomes stagnant and more of a chore than a cheer. So what do you do when that happens? Accept an invite from Currys and GoPro to try out Parkour of course!
#GoProExtremeLDN //
Certainly not something I would think to book myself to do, but none the less I thought why not give it a go. I was concerned of a sprained ankle, (which ironically I did the week after falling down some steps) but alas I survived injury free.
I was sent a new GoPro Sessions 4* camera and an official GoPro chest harness*. Ideal for any jumping, leaping and falling I needed to do. This whole campaign was put in place to show an extreme London, the idea of doing something super fun and exciting in the city rather than having to venture out. You can even do ice climbing nearby too!
Having previously used a GoPro Hero during a ski trip I knew that harness would be ideal for my Parkour session.
What to expect from a Parkour Session //
This was a beginner experience so we weren't exactly running up walls and leaping onto railings. In the initial session we were learning how to move our bodies to keep us safe from injury - always a key requirement for an activity like this. Two quick pointers, make sure you warm and stretch first and I'd suggest bringing some gloves that have grip on them. I didn't enjoy putting my hands on the dirty floor, so if you're touching the floor/walls/railings a lot it's good to keep your hands clean.
Would I do it again //
I won't lie to you I was pretty rubbish at Parkour - it was good to try it but it wasn't for me! Perhaps if I was a little more confident I could excel, but being nervous of injury was perhaps holding me back a touch. I would potentially try it again now knowing what is expected.
Fancy giving something extreme a go, with a GroPro? It was so much fun filming my Parkour antics! You can purchase all GoPro products and accessories from the Currys website. I had the GoPro Sessions 4 and a GoPro chest mount harness.
Where is the action? //
Why not see how I got on at my first Parkour session via my short GoPro footage. Would you try it?
