‘Parker’ Named Best-loved Celebrity Baby Name of 2013

Parker, newborn son of The Saturday’s star Frankie Sandford, has been revealed as the best-loved celebrity baby name of 2013. The October born tot came top following a poll of 2,000 mums, just ahead of the daughter of model Imogen Thomas.

The ex-Big Brother contestant gave her baby girl the moniker Ariana after she was born in February of this year.

Third place went to Alesha Dixon’s daughter Azura – whose arrival wasn’t announced to the world until she was a week old.

Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton and Rolling Stones’ son Jesse Wood came fourth with Rex Rayne, born in February.

In fifth was Luna – daughter of Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz – who was born on the same day Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge announced the birth of Prince George at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

Lisa Penney, spokeswoman for parenting website Bounty.com, said:

”New parents often look to celebrities for baby name inspiration and many mums eagerly wait to find out what names celebrities have chosen for their babies.

”Already there have been 148 babies called Parker born this year, and as he was only born in October we expect that Parker will rise up the baby names chart in the future.”

The study also revealed mums love the name Elton John gave to his adopted son Elijah, while others like the moniker Alaia-Mai given to the daughter of Rochelle and Marvin Humes.

Model Nell McAndrew’s little girl Anya also features on the list, as does pop star Shakira’s baby boy Milan and Lily Allen’s daughter Marnie.

But some celebrities have chosen more questionable names for their little ones – attracting criticism for their unusual choices.

Hitting the top spot for the worst name was Peaches Geldof, for calling her second son Phaedra after being inspired by a song called Some Velvet Morning by Lee Hazlewood.

When asked about the choice of name the daughter of Bob Geldof replied that it was ‘a family tradition to have a ridiculous choice of name’.

Jessica Simpson appears in the poll for naming her son with the second most disliked celebrity baby name Ace.

And little Margot takes third place for having a rather old fashioned name, courtesy of parents Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum.

Bryan Adam’s daughter takes fourth place as her parents took inspiration from cockney rhyming slang term ‘cup of tea’ naming her Lula Rosylea.

Halle Berry’s son Maceo, Edith Bowman’s son Spike and Katie Price’s most recent addition to her brood, Jett also appear on the list.

Colleen and Wayne Rooney receive criticism for naming their second child Klay, while Kim and Kanye’s daughter North and Fergie’s son Axl also feature in the top 10 least liked celebrity baby names.

Lisa Penney added:

”Unusual names are more popular amongst new parents but they do seem to draw the line at the wilder ones as they would probably raise a few eyebrows if shouted out in the supermarket.”
