Paris Fashion Week 2012: The Fall and Autumn Edition

By Keiciashanta1 @fashioncrushed

Hi Fashionistas! I hope all is well and that we are staying fabulous as usual. In our last installment of Fashion Week goes Global our next stop is Paris!! Paris Fashion Week started last Tuesday and it has been  non-stop fashion . Some of the most dynamic designers of our time will be presenting in these shows. Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Mugler.. (Formachetti did an amazing job), Christian Dior just to name a few. I must say that I have my favorites and not so favorites in this installment. Let’s get to the business at hand shall we…..

Mugler                                                   41 looks

Sculptural cashmere, neoprene with fluted peplum’s, fox fur sleeves, and Ninja’s on the runway . This was the jist of the collection presented by Nicolleta and Peigne for Paris Fashion Week. You can feel Lady GaGa was the muse in this collection and it’s was a very good look for Mugler.

Balenciaga                                                           44 looks

I was very excited to see the Balenciaga Presentation for Paris Fashion Week this year, but I was very surprised at the collection that was shown. I didnt see any cohesiveness from this line and it was rather Vanilla. The vision was lost and I didn’t get it. It wasn’t good at all but you be the judge….

Balmain                                                                     35 looks

After the Balenciaga show I was kinda in a warp state of mind, but Balmain brought me back around! Balmain and it’s creative director Oliver Rousteing’s really brought the label to the fore front of Women’s Wear that a “REAL WOMAN” will go out and by. Balmain’s presentation was very cohesive and I was pleased to see a realistic line women will spend that little extra for.

Christian Dior                                                            57 looks

I don’t like bad reviews , but when I saw the Dior presentation I wanted to scream! To be fair Dior has a new creative director since the departure of John Galliano. Bill Gaytten has to fill some very big shoes and he struggled to do so in this collection. Peplum’s and fitted waist was a throwback to it’s yester years .

Lanvin                                                                      50 looks

Alber Elbaz 10 year tenure at the Lanvin fashion house showed in his collection at Paris Fashion Week . Empowering and uplifting Elbaz states that he was the fashion outsider when he first started out. Revenge is a dish best served cold..and his collection was Ice Cold! Body enhancing dresses, delicious colors, and overall fun  paraded down the runway .

Jean Paul Gaultier                                                      54 looks

I am a die hard Jean Paul Gaultier fan and when I saw his presentation I knew why I simply love his work. Eventhough there were some hits and misses I saw two of my most fav models walking in this show so I was happy . Joan Smalls the new phenom has been hard at work walking the globe this fashion season. The new kid, Andrj Pajek who has taken the model world by storm with his androgynous sleek look, rivaling some of the top models in the world. The trench coat was re-worked and the different colors of skirts of dissimilar lengths made the show one to remember.

Paris Fashion Week 2012 has a couple days left so stick with fashioncrush1 for your fashion week fix. Fall/Autumn 2012 is going to be a colorful, fur, peplum fantasy. I love it!

Until Next Time……..
