The Albany Fire Department, Lebanon Fire District, and Tangent Rural Fire District have combined efforts and will be hiring personnel for a single role/peak activity ambulance.  All three departments are committed to providing excellent customer service and emergency care to those we serve and are looking for candidates who have those same values.  All three departments are committed to looking for new ways of delivering emergency care and are excited about this joint effort.  This single-role ambulance will primarily cover inter-facility transfers, standby at special events, and when needed emergency calls or area coverage.  These positions will be housed at the Tangent Rural Fire District.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

Graduation from an accredited paramedic program.

Experience as a Paramedic with a career or volunteer fire department or private EMS agency, or successful completion of a student or EMS internship with the Albany Fire Department or Lebanon Fire District.  Preference may be given to Albany, Lebanon, or Tangent active and in good standing fire volunteers. (Applicant must attach to their application a letter from the Department or District Chief verifying their active, good standing volunteer status.)

The City of Albany, Lebanon Fire District, and Tangent Rural Fire District are working collaboratively to recruit full-time Paramedics.  All candidates must take FireTEAM testing.  All testing must be complete by the time the application closes on Friday, May 11, 2018.

These positions are bargaining unit positions.  They will be represented by either Albany Firefighters Local 845 or by Lebanon Professional Firefighters Local 2163 depending on which department the candidate is assigned to when formally hired.

Please Note:  These positions require a current state of Oregon EMT-Paramedic certification or NREMT-Paramedic (National Registry EMTP).

Job Requirements

Age: Must be 19 years or older at the time of employment.

US Citizen: US Citizen or Lawfully Work in the US.

High School Grad/GED: Yes

Valid OREGON State Driver’s License: Yes

Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes

Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

College:
Graduation from an accredited paramedic program.

Necessary Certifications:
Must have:

  1. Must have a current state of Oregon Paramedic certification or NREMT-Paramedic. If candidates possess a NREMT-Paramedic certification, the candidates continued employment is contingent on ability to obtain Oregon EMT-Paramedic certification. A copy of your certification must be attached to your application.
  2. Valid FireTeam Test dated no earlier than April 1, 2017.
  3. First Responder Operations certification or Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations equivalent. A copy of your certification must be attached to your application

Post Hiring:
Ability to obtain by the end of the training period and/or maintain Oregon EMT-Paramedic medical standing order privileges from the Fire Department Medical Director; learn the operation of fire suppression and other emergency equipment; perform strenuous physical tasks under adverse environmental conditions; act effectively in emergency and stressful situations; and follow verbal and written instructions.
