Pali University Monk Remanded Over Ragging Charges

Homagama Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura ordered to remand Talawe Dhammika Thera, the Secretary of Homagama Pitipana Buddhist and Pali University student union, who was arrested by the Homagama police on four charges, including inhumane harassment of monk and lay students, until December 27.

After an investigation based on the complaints received from the first year students and the administration of the Buddhist and Pali University, the Thera was arrested and presented to court. The case was filed under the charges of inhuman harassment and ragging, wrongful confinement, wrongful interference and causing minor injuries to the new students of the university.
