How To Make Pickled Haddock Steaks

Let’s try something from left field today! Haddock steaks served cold! Trust me, just try this and you will LOVE it!

Ingredients


  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 4 haddock steaks (250g each)
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Small piece ginger
  • 4 x 3 finger pinches coriander powder
  • 4 green chillies (seeded)
  • 5 tbsp vinegar
  • 3 finger pinch turmeric
  • 4 curry leaves
  • Salt

Method


  1. Fry fish on both sides until browned in heated oil in a large pan. Set aside.
  2. Fry onions till soft.
  3. Blend garlic, ginger, coriander powder, chillies and 1 tbsp of the vinegar and work a paste.
  4. Add this paste to the pan with turmeric, curry leaves and salt and fry for 3 to 4 minutes with onions.
  5. Add the remaining vinegar. Bring to a simmering point. Add fish and cook uncovered till tender, this takes around 4 minutes.
  6. Place fish in a dish. Pour the juices over it and leave to cool.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for 12 hours.
  8. Enjoy cold!
