DPRK state media reported on February 18 (Thursday) that Premier Pak Pong Ju (Pak Po’ng-chu) visited industrial sites in South Hamgyo’ng Province. Pak toured and surveyed Hu’ngnam Fertilizer Complex, the February 8 Vinalon Complex and the Ryongso’ng Machine Complex in Hamhu’ng. He was briefed about production at the factories and then held meetings with local officials, factory managers and employees. According to KCNA, Pak’s meetings “underscored the need for the complexes to bring about innovations in producing Chuch’e fertilizer, vinalon and custom-built equipment by putting production on a normal footing.” The meetings took “measures for increasing production through meticulous management of equipment and technical control and ensuring the satisfactory supply of raw and other materials to the complexes by relevant units.”
Pak Pong Ju also toured Ku’mya Youth Coal Mine and his meeting there “stressed the importance of the coal mine’s duty and called for vigorously promoting the building of an economic power through increased coal production.”
