WHAT IS PAFOLACIANINE (CYTALUX)?

Pafolacianine (CYTALUX) is a prescription medication that is given to the adult patients prior to surgery or an operation who have ovarian cancer. It helps surgeons detect and remove ovarian cancer lesions during the operation. It belongs to a class of drugs, called diagnostic imaging agents.

Pafolacianine (Cytalux) is available in the form of injection.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF CYTALUX?

This medication can cause serious side-effects; including:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Hives
  • Vomiting
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Itching
  • Flushing (warmth, redness)
  • Bloating or feeling of fullness.

It is not known whether this medicine is safe while breastfeeding. It may pass into breast milk. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding.

It is still not clear if Pafolacianine (Cytalux) medication affect fertility.

    Folate, folic acid, or supplements containing folate taken within two days before administration.
