Verdict on Paddington in Peru
Recap
Paddington heads to Peru to see Aunt Lucy only to discover she has gone missing. He teams up with the Browns and heads out into the Amazon in search of her and discovers more threats waiting in the jungle.
Best Parts
The Paddington charm is here in force, the odd little adventures he finds himself going on bring laughs and smiles. We get a new location that creates new problems. The overall idea is that the Brown family is facing changes, and this adventure could bring them closer again.
Worst Parts
The movie does feel a lot like a mix of Jungle Cruise and an Indiana Jones movie. It does have charm, but not as much as previous outings. When it comes to the villains, they don’t feel as humorous as previous ones either.
Performances
The performances get laughs, and the returning cast shines, with Julie Walters stealing most scenes. Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas bring their characters to life. However, the biggest question remains why Mary was recast because Emily Mortimer doesn’t bring enough to replace Sally Hawkins.
Final Thoughts – Paddington in Peru is still filled with charm and entertains throughout.
