Packers sign former first-round pick with checkered past to practice squad
The Packers signed former first-round pick Jamin Davis to their practice squad after he was waived by the Washington Commanders. Davis, who struggled to live up to his draft billing in Washington, transitioned to defensive end under the Commanders' new regime in 2024. He made the team's roster but saw limited playing time before being waived in October. With the Packers, Davis is expected to serve as a backup behind veterans Rashan Gary and Preston Smith. In a corresponding move, the Packers released linebacker Chris Russell from the practice squad. Davis will have the opportunity to learn the playbook and develop behind the experienced Green Bay defensive line.
