Overhead Projectors – Dinosaur Technology Or a Good Investment?

Modern technology has quickly been replacing the older types of overhead projectors in the workplace. Although they are still commonly used for business meetings and in many classrooms, digital LCD projectors are quickly replacing them. These types of projectors are often considered dinosaur technology but they should also be viewed as a good investment for your money.

An overhead projector can show things in visual form to many people and come with their own set of benefits that include the following:

Affordable

These types of projectors are a lot more affordable than LCD projectors. Not only are they cheaper to purchase but they are also less expensive to maintain. By choosing the overhead projector route you can end up saving anywhere from 50% to 60% or more when compared to the cost of purchasing a newer model. In some cases you can get a projector for the same price that you would have to pay to get an LCD replacement lamp.

Easy operation

These older models come with easier to understand technology. Setting up one of these projectors is a breeze and operating it is even easier. There’s no software required so you won’t have to do anything complicated to get it set up and ready to use immediately. You won’t have to worry about dealing with a complicated procedure to adjust settings or change lamps since everything is laid out in an easy to understand simple format.

Transparency films

Since the Internet has become so popular, it’s easier than ever to find cheap transparency films available online. You can also buy transparencies from local stores and can make your own educational transparency films via your computer and a laser or inkjet printer.

When you need to use a projector and aren’t equipped with a lot of technical know-how, overhead projectors are exactly what you need. In this day and age you do need to keep up with technology to a certain extent, but when it comes to presenting information to large or small groups of people, an overhead projector will do you well.

It can be quite embarrassing to have to stop a meeting or a presentation due to technical difficulties because you don’t understand what the projector is doing. How many times have you had to take a break during a meeting when the presenter didn’t know what was happening with the digital projector he was using and had to call upon somebody else for technical advice? When this occurs, the whole flow of the presentation is interrupted and sometimes you can end up losing your audience completely.

If you have a hard time working with gadgets and figuring out how something works, it can sometimes take hours to completely get a handle on the tools you’re using. It’s not anything to be embarrassed about either. Some people are just more technically inclined than others. Think about overhead projectors when it’s time to get a new one. Sometimes dinosaur technology really does outshine the newer modern equipment.
