Basketball season is upon us. We are a big sports family and we get together often to watch basketball games, especially the playoffs and the college games now in March. We always cheer for our hometown teams and always eat lots of food. One recipe I always make for game watching parties is oven baked hot & spicy chicken wings! These wings are a family favorite, especially because they are baked, not fried.

Like most recipes I share on the blog, these wings are very simple to make. I like easy. I cannot do a complicated recipe because let's face it, we all have other things we could be doing other than standing over our kitchen counters. These wings do have a long cooking time but you can be doing other things while they bake in the oven.
Oven Baked Hot & Spicy Chicken WingsPrep time: 2 hoursCooking Time: 1 hourServes 8
Ingredients:2-3 lbs chicken wings (cut into wing and drumstick pieces)3/4 cup all-purpose flour1 tsp cayenne pepper1 tsp garlic powder1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp black pepper1/2 tsp dried parsley1 tsp tabasco sauce1 cup hot buffalo sauce
In a medium sized bowl, add chicken wing pieces, flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, dreid parsley and tabasco sauce. Toss to coat. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for at least one hour, preferably two.

Remove from refrigerator and re-toss chicken pieces in bowl.

My preferred method for baking wings so they come out crispy all over is to bake on a wire rack. If you don't have a wire rack, line a baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place wings on wire rack or baking pan, move to middle rack in oven and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour. If you bake on a wire rack, make sure to place the wire rack over a drip pan. Turn wings half way during cooking to insure even crisping.

After baking, remove wings from oven. In a bowl, add your hot buffalo sauce. Then, dip each wing in the buffalo sauce, coat evenly and set on a serving dish.

Serve wings with a ranch or bleu cheese dip. These wings will be very spicy!

When serving spicy foods to your guests, be sure to keep some essentials handy such as Advil Liqui-gels (for headaches and such) and Nexium 24HR capsules. Nexium 24HR, is the new #1 selling frequent heartburn brand* (based on IRI sales data 52 weeks ending 11/1/15 amoung OTC brands. May take 1 to 4 days for full effect. Use as directed.)

Keep your guests comfortable while they are at your home watching games. Keep your house stocked with yummy foods and all the basketball essentials you might need. Walmart is the best place to go to get everything you need for this basketball watching season. (Psst: click here to save money on all Pfizer essentials)

Tell me: Do you take part in all the March basketball craziness? What's your go-to recipe for game-watching?
