Outroversion’s September 2011 Mixtape

Posted on the 30 August 2011 by Outroversion @outroversion

It’s been a long month for the world. Riots, civil wars, hurricanes. Whether intentionally or not these things get soundtracked by the music that happens to be around you during that time. Penultimate track “England” by Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou was the most poignant and lasting memory musically of the events in this country for me which now feels a life time ago after everything that has come since but amazingly was only 3 weeks ago. I didn’t want to close on that tone though, I’ve chosen a cover of “Boys of Summer” as performed by Au Revoir Simone, the original track really catching the feeling of the season winding down and the cold days and nights returning, somehow ARS make it feel even more isolating.

Mates of State and Red Hot Chili Peppers are the big hitters although MOS isn’t released until next month but both albums are going to be in my top 10 albums of the year without a doubt and Mates of State into my top 20 of all time, it’s a beautiful album. Also great to hear from the Pepps after all this time.

The Kooks and Bombay Bicycle Club have both returned to the public conscious with some quite different music, the Kooks’ White Albumesque The Sabateur and Bombay Bicycle Clubs upbeat yet dark shuffle is from their new album that comes out only a year after their last highly praised full legnth.

Basically all i’m saying is that music is a constant and in times where assurances are needed in life it’ll be there, let it be.
