Our Hat off to the Charlie Hebdo Team: New Issue is out

Posted on the 13 January 2015 by Themarioblog @garciainteract

Our hat off to the colleagues at Charlie Hebdo for publishing an issue of their newspaper only a week after they lost so many of their team, including the editor in chief, Stéphane Charbonnier, known as Charb, to a horrific assault in clear daylight.

The cover shows a weeping Prophet Mohammed with a  Je Suis Charlie sign which was drawn by staff cartoonist Luz,whose real name is Renald Luzier, 42, and who avoided last week's mass murder because he overslept by half an hour and was late for work . Luz is the same man who drew controversial cover in 2011 for which the Charlie office was bombed.

The cover was published by the French newspaper Libération, which has provided a home for the surviving staff under heavy guard. Charlie Hebdo, which normally prints 60000 issues, will distribute three million with this edition.

I cannot imagine anyone in our business who is not extremely proud and supportive of the Charlie Hebdo team for rallying in defiance and publishing an issue on the heels of such a personal tragedy.

Bravo, Charlie Hebdo.

Nous sommes très fiers de vous.
