Now for the fashion side, our favorite bit to dig out the good stuff :P with Faye's perfectly husky voice and her insanely intriguing almond shaped eyes she completely juxtaposes the girl next door look. She strikes to be more scary sexy than the approachable cute girl, and of course we would have her no other way. The snapshot below is a picture of her when people first began to notice her edgy sex appeal on the set of one of Hollywood's best known films 'Bonnie and Clyde' in 1967. She rocks that knitwear so elegently that she could strut down the red carper in it and look like a walking billion dollar bill!
Let's face it, it doesn't happen very often that an infamous, gun swinging, bank-robbing criminal becomes a huge fashion icon to influence catwalks from decades to come. But, here we have it! Instead of getting thrown into jail Miss Faye gets launched into the fashion scene, what are the odds of that? Dunaway’s performance consistently exuded an elegance lost to prior decades, and her interpretation of the gangster moll captivated the world, complete with femme fatal wardrobe and Thirties glamour. The slim tailored skirts, simplistic silhouettes, seductively tied silk scarves and precariously perched berets were selected by the film’s wardrobe designer, Theodora Van Runkle, with the aim of evoking a sense of Thirties elegance ,which went against what was considered fashionable in the late Sixties. This was soon changed when suddenly bobs and berets became the headwear essentials and pencil skirts sketched their way in and became rediscovered by the mini-wearing youth. And is still being discovered today as everyone is now looking to find the perfect pencil!
This particular one designed by Johnathan Saunders for LFW 2011...
There have been countless editorials inspired by Miss Faye as Bonnie Parker in the hit film with Warren Beatty but all us vintage lovers know that nothing beats the original, her whole wardrobe is just phenomenal in every vintage way possible!
All we can say is: Stunning. Miss Faye has most definitely influenced the fashion world today with her fierce but elegent style which designers have been tyring to capture since this was first discovered. Perfect pencils, bouncy bobs and perched berets are the way forward for your Dunaway Runaway look.
Keep posted to stay hot on the latest vintage goss,
Love and kisses,
