Sir Anthony Hopkins, who has won two Academy Awards, has decided at the age of 84 to try his hand at digital art. His latest NFT collection, “The Eternal,” came out on Thursday. Hopkins is making a total of 1,000 different NFTs, each of which is a different take on one of ten different designs that feature his face. Some of the names for the personas are Hero, Jester, Sage, and so on. The metaverse is a great way to reach people in a new and interesting way. It’s exciting to think that I can use NFT to take my art to the next level. In a statement, the actor said, “Being the oldest guy in the NFT community and on social media shows that anything is possible at any age.”
Hopkins was born in Wales, and he has been painting since around 2003, but it’s not clear how much he does. The quality of one’s own work is a matter of opinion, but much of what he has done on his own is quite good. (Some of his work is shown on his website, and a Maui gallery handles all of his sales.)
Hopkins’s newest day job, in which he plays a wise grandfather, comes out on October 28 in limited release and on November 4 in wide release. It is directed by James Gray. Later this year, he will also be in “The Son,” which will be directed by Florian Zeller, who also directed “The Father.”
