With the calendar coming closer to 2015, I think it’s high time to bring in some fresh blood for OASG. We can probably use some more anti-social geniuses anyways.
So, let’s get started and cut to the chase!

Well, almost. But for now, a legitimate time for me to whine: 2014 made me realize something — man it’s hard to do what you want with a job on the side! Even though I expected the horrors of that coming to fruition, and hoped I could prepare myself for that somehow, I was simply not prepared — and for that, projects I had in mind have fallen by the wayside. This experience has made me realize two things: one, I need to take care of my time more, and two, I need some new writers to contribute to the cause. There’s a lot of stuff we can cover in this medium called anime and manga, and simply, I can’t do it by myself. So that’s where you come in. There are a few positions that I’m looking for below, but there are only two things that should be known before you apply:
1) Dependability. Needless to say, this is strictly more passion based than anything else. This is unpaid. This is a hobby. This is also a potential writing home for you. Whatever the case, there’s not a lot of glory here. And I won’t be terribly demanding. All that said, there will be expectations, and among those are to be respectable and consistent. When applying here, know that you will be expected to be dependable with your work and whatever else happens after that.
2) Experience. I welcome fresh faces and experienced ones. If you suddenly just decided you wanted to write, you will be welcome here. If you’ve blogged elsewhere or have written stuff from your school, that’s cool as well. As long as you’re passionate about what you want to cover, and you can write well, you should be good.
So, without further ado, here are the positions of need at the moment:
Anime Features Writer: This position involves getting in touch with just about anyone involved in the industry, be they bloggers, voice actors, social media managers, cosplayers, etc. You may have to interview them, ask them for help on an article you’re working on, etc. You may be asked to cover conventions if you are able to and provide coverage there. Needless to say, the point is to continue to try and get an understanding of what goes on in the anime industry and communicate that to people, whether good or bad. You will be aided with help on getting in contact with people, interviewing, etc.
Manga Features Writer: This position is the same as the anime features position, but just with manga coverage instead. A few articles that’s been done over the years as an example:
- A Conversation With Senior Brand Manager at Crunchyroll, Tiffany Chen
- Former TOKYOPOP Editor’s “Rant” On Scanlations and Aggregators
- Thoughts About Buying Manga With Rightstuf
Weekly Episodic Reviewer: You will be tasked to choose 1 or 2 anime a season to blog every season. You can see an example by checking out what we’ve covered the past two anime seasons. Expectation is to have it out immediately-within two days of when it aired.

So, if there’s something that interests you, feel free to apply! Email me at organizationasg at gmail dot com with the position you’re seeking, describe a bit of your background (country or state, anime and/or manga favs, etc), and a writing sample, or two, or three. If you do not have a writing sample, I’ll provide instructions on what to do. Deadline is Dec 15. I aim to notify everyone who applied soon after the deadline.
Note: Chances are I’ll prefer those who live in the US, but anyone can still apply.
