The new project from Banah Winn, formerly of California band Cayucas, is called Opus Vitae, meaning “Life’s Work” in Latin, and the sunny melodies and love-affirming lyrics of their first single “I’ve Been Wrong” certainly make a case that the band is an outsanding example of Winn’s life’s work. “I’ve Been Wrong” is an expansive and exquisite pop narrative, with percussion crashing in and out of a heartfelt rhythm that conjures dreams of revelations and life-changing truths. Interwoven guitar lines charm the listener alongside a driving bass line and Winn’s poetic pleas for forgiveness. With production by Darrell Thorp, who’s worked with acts like Beck and Foster The People, Opus Vitae’s forthcoming self-titled EP is sure to set them on the right course.
